Twelve Dancers
The Twelve Dancing Princesses from Grimms’ Fairy Tales, also know as the Twelve Worn out Slippers, is the story of twelve sisters who secretly dance each night away, lying about their activities to their father and any of the men hired to discover their secret, even while knowing their lies will lead to the death of these young suitor/spies. While they are eventually discovered, this story highlights the desire of young women to lead their lives freely.
